A message from Nikki Marie Garcia

As Mrs. New Mexico International, my passion is to raise awareness for the Be The Match Registry. By advocating for Be The Match, I have been able to give hope to patients and their families.

We all know someone affected by cancer, and advocating for Be The Match is my way to help save lives! My husband and I have both lost loved ones to leukemia, so Be The Match is near and dear to my heart.

I will be working hard throughout the year to increase the number of potential donors on the marrow registry, to raise awareness for Be The Match, and most importantly, help to save lives!

For people with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match^® connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. An ordinary person could be someone’s cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry^®, financial contributor or volunteer. Patients and their families can turn to Be The Match for one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant.

Be The Match is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program^® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals and conducts research so more lives can be saved.
